Privacy Policy
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your Personal Data and how we will treat it.
This Privacy Policy applies to the QR Studio application (the "App", "Services", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, secure, and/or disclose end-users’ (“you” or “your”) or otherwise process your personal information when you use our Services. This comprehensive policy ensures complete transparency, so you are fully informed before downloading the App from the Google Play Store or other distribution platforms.
1. Information We Collect and How
Because QR Studio operates primarily as an offline-first application and respects your privacy, it does not require traditional user registration (such as providing an email address, phone number, or social media profile). Instead, the data we collect is primarily linked to your device rather than your real-world personal identity.
- Anonymous Authentication Data (Firebase): We utilize Firebase Anonymous Authentication to securely manage your session. When you first open the App, Firebase generates a random, unique cryptographic identifier (UID) for your specific installation. This UID does not contain any personal information (no names, emails, or phone numbers).
- Basic Identifiers: Such as mobile device IDs, advertising IDs (e.g., Google Advertising ID for Android), and IP addresses.
- Device Information: Device model, operating system and version, screen resolution, app version, language settings, and connection type.
- Usage Information: General app engagement, date and time of usage, feature usage (generating or scanning QR codes), and interaction with advertisements.
- Diagnostics: Performance metrics, crash logs, and technical stability information.
- Media, Camera, and Storage Permissions: To scan QR codes and barcodes, the App requests camera access. To read QR codes from your gallery and save generated codes, storage access is requested. These processes occur entirely locally on your device using on-device ML Kit libraries and are never recorded, uploaded, or transmitted to any server.
- Cookies & Advertising Technologies: Third-party advertising networks (like Google AdMob) and analytics partners (like Firebase) may use mobile SDKs to deliver relevant advertisements and prevent fraud.
2. Sources of Data
We obtain information automatically via Firebase Anonymous Authentication, directly from you when granting camera/storage permissions, and automatically via SDKs (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Google AdMob).
3. Purposes for Which We Use Your Data
- Secure Session Management: Anonymous UIDs ensure safe communication with cloud services without exposing personal identity.
- Service Provision: Scanning, generating, saving, and sharing QR codes and barcodes.
- Administering & Protecting Services: Troubleshooting bugs, preventing abuse, and maintaining security.
- Analytics & Improvement: Understanding user experience to improve app speed and layout.
- Personalized Advertisements: Supporting the free-to-use application through Google AdMob.
4. Local Processing and Data Retention
QR Studio is built with an offline-first approach:
- All barcode decoding happens locally using on-device ML Kit models.
- Scan and generation history is kept inside an encrypted local Hive database on your device.
- You maintain full control and can delete history at any time from the in-app Settings screen.
- Uninstalling the app automatically orphans the anonymous Firebase session ID.
5. Sharing of Personal Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers (Google Play Services, Firebase, Google AdMob) for operating and delivering ads, or when strictly required by law.
6. Security of Your Data
All cloud network communications with Firebase use TLS/SSL encryption in transit, and local app data is sandboxed securely within your operating system environment.
7. Children's Privacy
Our services are intended for a general audience and do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 where applicable).
8. Your Rights and Data Control
Under GDPR, CCPA, and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to access, request deletion, clear local history, and opt out of personalized ads via your device's Android Google Advertising settings.
